And now for something completely different... an iPod Touch!

If you can believe it, this free software fan broke down and entered the world of Apple with a new iPod Touch. Maybe it was Steve Job's passing, or maybe it was the fact that there seems to be no viable Android equivalent. I'm not ready for a smart phone yet and still don't have much interest in a data plan, but I'm trying out the world of touch devices and so far loving it. I really think that most of our writing will be done on touchscreens in the not to distant future. Heck, I'm posting this on my iPod right now. It's a lot more intuitive than I would have imagined. I can read, download podcasts and songs right on to this thing. No more USB sideloading from a computer. With the new iOS 5 released today, it will be even more cloud-centric, which makes me happy. I haven't given up on Linux & Android, but I do have a new found respect for Apple. We'll see where all this leads. For now, I'm psyched to discover one more amazing technology.
